The New York Film Scene
All about New York film production and the education you'll need to take part in it.
Whether you're interested in film, television, broadcasting or theatre, New York is at the center of the show business universe—or at least, it's pretty close.
And in New York City alone, 23 primetime TV series were filmed in 2011 – 2012, as well as 188 movies shot, according to the City of New York Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. This makes it the second largest entertainment production hub after Los Angeles.
If New York's natural charms aren't enough, the state has sweetened the deal by offering incentives such as tax credits and sales tax exemptions for New York film productions. City and state officials also seem to be anxious to accommodate. In the words of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, "We have a reputation for finding a way to say yes."
