New York Fashion Design

So much style, so little space. Roughly 30 city blocks in the heart of Midtown Manhattan contain New York City's famed fashion district. While this may seem like a lot of real estate to devote to fashion, when you contemplate the far-reaching effects of decisions made in New York's fashion center, it's remarkable that so much creativity could be concentrated in this one small area.

With its emphasis on the fine arts and its cultural diversity, New York offers much to inspire current and future fashion icons. This epicenter of American (and even global) fashion is home to some of the biggest players in the fashion industry. From Calvin Klein to Vera Wang, many of fashion design's household names have offices in New York City. Many of the fashion greats can also be found in the Fashion Walk of Fame, which runs down Seventh Avenue.

New York's fashion businesses, combined with those in California, provide two-thirds of all American fashion jobs, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is not surprising when you consider that New York's fashion center boasts over 5,000 businesses, making it a paradise for aspiring fashion designers.
