New York Film Scene
Whether you're interested in film, television, broadcasting or theatre, New York is at the center of the show business universe – or at least, it's pretty close. Employing roughly 100,000 people, entertainment is a $5 billion industry in New York.
With its diverse locations, attractions and population, there can be little question as to why New York attracts many of the top names in the film industry. Just about anything a film production would need, including great locations and skilled film professionals, can be found there.
If New York's natural charms aren't enough, the state has sweetened the deal by offering incentives such as tax credits and sales tax exemptions for film productions that are "made in New York." City and state officials also seem to be anxious to accommodate. In the words of the New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, "We have a reputation for finding a way to say yes."
