AA in Visual Communications

BFA in Fashion Marketing

The fashion marketing degree program at AIU Atlanta is designed to educate students and prepare them for an exciting career in fashion. Students can study trends, analyze the market base, evaluate production needs and learn how each of these factors affects the retail and wholesale sides of the fashion industry. We want to produce successful fashion marketing professionals who will be able to understand and recognize buyer behaviors that impact marketing operations.

BFA in Fashion Marketing and Design

At AIU Atlanta, we've taken the key courses from our fashion design curriculum and combined them with the key courses from our fashion marketing curriculum and created the fashion marketing and design program. Students can learn the fundamentals of design and learn techniques on how to effectively market their creations.

BFA in Fashion Marketing and Design - Costume Design

This Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Marketing and Design degree program features a specialization in Costume Design and is designed to help students acquire an understanding of both the design and fashion side of the fashion industry. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Marketing and Design degree program enables students to develop as creative, design-focused, fashion innovators, who are passionate about fashion design and who have a good understanding of fashion marketing. Students learned how to express their personal vision of fashion through the development of innovative design and marketing ideas, which express their grasp of the conceptual and the aesthetic. They have a strong foundation in traditional methods and are able to apply modern digital technologies to fashion methods and processes.

Coursework is structured to assist students in the development of their goals as they acquire the knowledge and skills common to fashion marketing professionals.

BFA in Interior Design

AIU's bachelor's degree in interior design can prepare its students to practice as professional interior designers who are qualified by education, experience, and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces. Hands-on training in relatively small classrooms aids students in developing interior design skills and knowledge in the fundamentals such as drafting, resources and materials, color, lighting, building systems and codes, detailing, residential design and commercial design.

In addition, through a variety of electives and internship opportunities, students have the ability to track particular interest to suit their career goals. The curriculum is designed to balance the practical and theoretical aspects of career preparation in order to provide the interior design community with graduates that have the skills and knowledge to enter the professional field immediately.

In the curriculum for each of the following specialization programs, students can learn how to:

• Complete the interior design programming process with a client (i.e. interviewing, assessing needs, inventorying existing conditions, creating matrixes and adjacency diagrams, stating the project objectives and desired outcomes, problem solving, proposing solutions).
• Complete technically correct drafted floor plans, interior elevations, building sections, and interior details for both residential and commercial applications.
• Understand and be able to skillfully apply the principals and elements of interior design (balance, rhythm, proportion, scale, emphasis, harmony, space, shape, line, texture, pattern, light, and color).
• Understand the use of color theory and how its application effects both visual presentation of a space and the psychological impact of that space on those existing in that environment.
• A strong understanding of the variety of Human factors to be considered in the practice of interior design (physical proportions, physical limitations, cultural influences, global considerations).
• and many more industry-related skills.

BFA in Interior Design - Building Information Modeling

The AIU BFA in Interior Design gives students the opportunity to investigate the fundamental elements of interior design and conveys their use through practical and theoretical research. In this program, students can learn how to use Building Information Modeling (BIM applications); the use of computerized building modeling in developing the design of interior environments.

BFA in Interior Design - Commercial Interior Design

The AIU BFA in Interior Design with a specialization in Commercial Interior Design gives students the opportunity to investigate the fundamental elements of interior design and conveys their use through practical and theoretical research. In this program, students can learn how to understand Commercial Interior Design: the design of office spaces, retail spaces, hospitality environments, entertainment environment, health environments, and the design of interiors of educational facilities.

BFA in Interior Design - Residential Interior Design

The AIU BFA in Interior Design gives students the opportunity to investigate the fundamental elements of interior design and conveys their use through practical and theoretical research. In this program, students can learn how to understand Residential Interior Design; the design of home environments, and related living spaces.

BFA in Media Production

The media production curriculum at AIU Atlanta was created to be a hands-on program designed to prepare students for successful careers in the video and audio production fields. Students can utilize industry current technology, such as shooting video with digital cameras and editing with AVID or Final Cut Pro software. When students elect the audio specialization, they work on digital audio workstations and can use Logic and ProTools software.

Students in this program are expected to participate in the Annual AIU Student VidFest Awards Show. This competition is judged by industry experts and provides exposure for the students. In order to give students the extra edge they need, the instructors involved in this program are all active, working professionals in Atlanta.

BFA in Media Production - Audio Recording and Sound Design

This Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Media Production degree program features a specialization in Audio Recording and Sound Design and is designed to give students interested in learning the audio end of media production the opportunity to develop specific skills needed to produce audio tracks for productions such as motion pictures, television, music videos and recording. Students also acquire an understanding of the entire process of media production. Coursework is structured to assist students in the development of their goals as they build the knowledge and skills common to audio recording professionals.
