Associate of Applied Science in Fashion Design & Marketing

The fashion design and marketing Associate of Applied Science degree program can help provide you with the industry knowledge, skills and experience you need to succeed in this ever-changing field.

Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design

At the Academy – San Antonio, our Advertising Design program was designed to prepare students for exciting career opportunities in the design, creation and implementation of advertising campaigns as well as marketing design. The program examines the graphic, typographic, photographic and audio / video elements of advertising; supportive advertising copy. The development of marketing and advertising campaigns will be covered and the roles of e-commerce, branding, project management, media planning, and consumer behavior will be studied.

Graduates of the Advertising Design program should be prepared for employment in positions such as:

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design Degree at The Academy - San Antonio is designed to develop a fundamental understanding of the role of form, function, creativity and critical viewpoint in the creation of visual communications. Examination of the fundamental principles of visual shape and form, value, texture, and pattern prepare the student to apply the basic design elements of effective visual materials to the development, planning, production and presentation of print publications and basic web design. Instructors at the Academy also provide courses in portfolio building that can help strengthen your chances of becoming a successful graphic designer.

As a result of completion of the program of study, students should be able to:

  • Identify, research, and analyze a visual communication opportunity;
  • Conceptualize, develop and distribute a visual solution to a defined communication need;
  • Construct visual communication solutions through the application of the fundamental principles of design;
  • Utilize appropriate technology and tools to generate visual communication solutions that are accurately prepared for production; and
  • Engage in critique, basic outcome evaluation, and presentation to assure client/audience satisfaction.
