Associate of Science in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design

Southwest Florida College offers training if you desire a career in computer aided drafting. In today's modern business climate, most drafters now use CAD systems to prepare drawings for their clients. Southwest Florida College will teach you to produce technical drawings using the latest upgrades to CAD-based software. But we also help you acquire the skills and experience with the tools you need to function as a traditional drafter. Just as important, our education is delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.

Our program can be completed within 2 short years of study and will familiarize you with the standards governing the ever-evolving business of modern technical drafting.

Southwest Florida College's computer-aided drafting and design program is designed to prepare you for employment in the technical drafting industry. After successfully completing the program, you will be able to develop technical drawings with both a computer-aided drafting software workstation and traditional drafting tools.

We will focus you on the area of architectural drafting; however, you will be introduced to other disciplines such as civil, structural, electrical/electronic and mechanical drafting. Upon successful completion of our program, you will be qualified to pursue entry-level positions in drafting, product design, cartography, estimating, sales and quality control.

Associate of Science in Graphic Design

Southwest Florida College features an Associate in Science degree for Graphic Design that can be completed within 2 short years of study. Our program will teach you the tools of the trade that graphic designers rely on daily to get the job done in style. Learn how to use a variety of print, electronic and film media to create designs that dazzle your clients. Use the latest computer software to develop the overall layout and design of magazines, newspapers, journals, corporate reports and other publications. You will even be able to design distinctive company logos for products and businesses and develop signs and signage systems - called environmental graphics - for business and government.

The graphic design program at Southwest Florida College is designed to provide you with the entry-level skills needed to become a graphic designer and desktop publisher in the modern business climate. Learn industry programs and standards to create marketable designs.

Our program allows students to focus on recruiting appeal to consumers with elements of advertising copy and layout. We can help you acquire a working knowledge of balance, structure and unity in the graphic process while being able to maintain creative layout and design applications for proper visual communications.

As your capstone project, you will construct a professional portfolio demonstrating your graphic and desktop proficiency and vision. Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science in Interior Design & Decorating

The interior design and decorating associate's degree is designed to prepare students for careers in interior decorating and design. The professional interior designer is qualified by education, experience and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces for the purpose of improving the quality of life, increasing productivity and protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public. The 2-year program provides students with the technical information and design skills necessary to work as interior design assistants and to start their pursuit of a successful career in either residential or commercial design.

Upon successful completion of the program, the student should be able to perform the basic skills necessary to work in interior design, analyze client's needs, goals, and life safety requirements, coordinate a successful job search and adapt to the ever-changing world of interior design.
