Pennsylvania Institute of Technology

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology offers a range of technical and business programs to prepare students for careers in chosen fields or as a foundation for continuing education. PIT's priority is the creation and maintenance of an atmosphere conducive to the learning endeavor and the comprehensive development of the student. Since 1974, the Career Placement Office has placed 94% of available graduates in technical positions related to their education.

Each degree presents a program designed to provide practical, hands-on courses for students who wish to begin their careers immediately following graduation. PIT constantly monitors these changes and modifies courses and curricula to meet the changing demands of business, industry, science and education.

Mission
The mission of PIT is to provide the best collegiate career-enhancing education, personal growth experience and four-year college transfer opportunities to committed learners.

In addition, PIT seeks to:

  • Provide an emphasis on "hands-on" experience and computer information systems literacy;
  • Enable students to achieve programmatic competencies;
  • Encourage students and faculty to keep abreast of changing developments in their fields through continuous learning and professional development;
  • Maximize the job placement rate of eligible candidates;
  • Prepare those students who seek to transfer to four year colleges;
  • Provide the support services necessary to assist all students to succeed;
  • Share its technical resources with the community for related educational purposes;
  • Encourage a sense of social responsibility in students, enabling them to function well in their family, community and professional lives.

Accreditation
PIT is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It also is approved as a two-year College by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
