Graduates of the visual communications degree work in the industries that create our visual culture. Employment is typically found in graphic design firms, corporate art departments, advertising agencies, publishing houses and pre-press companies. Companies that specialize in new media, such as website development, computer animation and interactive media are also sources of employment for graduates of the visual communications program.

Students in our visual communications program can develop traditional and computer skills utilizing the equipment and software currently used in the field. The general education component is designed to enhances these technical skills by adding broad-based problem-solving and human relation's insights from other academic disciplines.

Bachelor of Science in Interior Design

The BS in Interior Design program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the interior design industry. Students can develop design concepts for interior spaces and transform these concepts into practical, functional and innovative environments that meet client needs. Architectural drafting, space planning and computer-aided design are used to develop new concepts and to refine students' individual skills and talents. Building systems, regulations and current business practices are taught to prepare students for their internships and professional careers in interior design.

The BS in Digital Photography program can prepare students for a variety of employment opportunities within the photographic industry. Students receive a broad overview of photographic history, principles, processes and techniques that enable them to construct creative and technically proficient photographs. Computer software, printing technology and studio and location equipment are used to create, enhance and modify digital images, while portraiture, photojournalism and commercial photography projects allow students to develop artistic style and theoretical vision.

The game design and development program is designed to provide training in principles and techniques used to create interactive 2D and 3D computer games. Students can learn design software, programming languages, modeling and animation skills, networking principles, level and world editors and game engines used to design and develop games, and examine market research and business concepts related to game production and distribution processes. Project management, creative design and communication skills are integrated throughout this dynamic curriculum to help prepare students for entry-level positions in the game design and development industry.
