How much does it cost?Have you been intimidated by the tuition that other online colleges charge? You may have thought that online education is an option you can't afford. But with Baker, your tuition is less than half that of other major online colleges, in most cases! Currently, the undergraduate cost per credit hour is $175; for graduate, the cost per credit hour is $285. How are the classes delivered? Our entire degree programs are delivered via Blackboard®, an Internet-based system designed to allow students to participate in classes in an online format. It allows you to send and receive information from your instructor, the classroom, other students or groups of students. Each class has a unique virtual classroom that is the common meeting area for all students enrolled in that online class. This form of education is what the experts call "asynchronous." This means what you do is neither time nor place dependent. You go online to read lectures, participate in discussion and possibly complete exams. Many of the assignments and exercises required in online courses will still be completed off-line using word processing software. This system is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Online courses are usually six weeks in length, and students may enter the program year-round. Web Design - Certificate and Associate of Applied ScienceThe Internet explosion has led to the creation of a new career path: the web designer. Web designers are the people responsible for developing and maintaining World Wide Web (WWW) sites for public and private organizations. This program includes courses in marketing and computer information systems, as well as the skills needed to develop and maintain web pages. Bachelor of Web DevelopmentThis program is designed to work in conjunction with the Associate of Applied Science degree in Web Design to provide individuals with additional technical skills in the web development field. While the associate degree gives students a generalist base of skills, this degree targets the programming and development skills required to develop interactive, database driven web sites.
