The fashion merchandising industry is fast paced, ever-changing
and consumer-driven. At the heart of this industry is retailing,
which may be considered the most challenging area of the fashion
business. Successful merchandisers must understand all aspects of
the industry. Further, it is the merchandiser who is responsible
for identifying the wants of the consumer, and for planning,
buying and selling merchandise to ensure profit and to contribute
to the growth of the business. This is an industry composed of
risk takes, critical thinkers, creative minds and trendsetters.
Merchandising is an exciting industry with abundant opportunities
for those who commit themselves to a career in the industry.
College graduates may find entry-level opportunities as retail
managers, product development managers, event and promotion
planners, fashion forecasters, merchandise planners, fashion
journalists, small business owners and many more.
The Fashion Merchandising program at Bauder College is designed
to prepare students to meet the ever-changing demands of the
fashion industry. Students will develop skills necessary for
success in entry-level positions. The curriculum is constantly

Graphic designers are professional communicators who convert the
written word into abstract ideas. Graphic designers are found in
corporations, government institutions, advertising agencies,
design firms and commercial printers, with many freelancing as
independent designers. Duties may include creating web sites and
designing books, magazines, logos, symbols, newspapers, print and
TV ads, packaging, exhibits, signage and all types of
communication programs.
The graphic design program at Bauder College is designed to give
you a balanced and comprehensive course of instruction. The goal
of this program is to provide an in-depth knowledge of the
graphic design business and encourage creativity while stressing
technical and presentation skills. The traditional concepts of
graphic design combined with current graphic design practices
could enable you to become more a competent and efficient
designer.
Instructors guide you in exploring the many ways of developing
and creating a range of design projects such as advertising
campaigns, logos, packaging, posters, publications and more, from
concept to production. You will have opportunities to interact
the active Advisory Board of the College and with professionals
on field trips and externships.
Associate of Art in Interior Design
Professional Interior Designers need to speak the language of
both client and contractor. Their job is both creative and
technical, aesthetic and practical. They are expected to
coordinate a consultation through conception and completion,
including space planning, design development and installation.
They must understand furnishings, finishes, colors, lighting,
architectural detailing and all the other elements of design.
The first year of this program establishes a firm base in design
and core classes with emphasis on the language and terminology
needed to communicate in the field as well as an understanding of
the business aspects of design. The second year further develops
the student's knowledge and design skills and allows for advanced
study practice in all areas of interior design, including the use
of computers as design tools.
