About the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University

Founded in 1923 as New England School of Art, the New England School of Art and Design merged with Suffolk University in 1996, and for over 80 years has prepared students for professional careers in art and design.

At the New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University (NESADSU) students have access to all the resources and services associated with a large university community. The NESADSU building is located in Boston's Back Bay at 75 Arlington Street and has 40,000 square feet of state-of-the-art classrooms, studios and equipment.

NESADSU is dedicated to providing its students with excellent instruction, professional courses of study, small classes and personalized attention. NESADSU is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

Master of Arts in Graphic Design

Today's designers must possess a technical and aesthetic skill set that is both contemporary and fluid. In order to create innovative multidisciplinary designs, they have to be proficient in a wider range of media. Our Master of Arts in Graphic Design program was created to meet the challenges of this constantly evolving field. It emphasizes sophisticated design and communication skills using cutting-edge technologies, combining a curriculum that is practice-oriented, yet tailored to the specialized interests of its students.

While the curriculum is designed for those who have earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design (BFA), we also welcome applicants who have earned an undergraduate degree in a field unrelated to the visual arts (e.g., computer science, anthropology) or who have earned an undergraduate degree in an area of the visual arts other than graphic design (e.g., painting, illustration).

If you have not completed an undergraduate program of study substantially equivalent to a BFA in Graphic Design, you will be required to complete additional foundational (undergraduate equivalent) coursework. Courses of study for those without a BFA in graphic design may vary significantly and will be determined on an individual basis.
