Computer Graphic DesignBack to topOnce mastered, computer graphic skills open a world of vivid layout, color, illustration and photo manipulation for the trained professional designer. The computer is the most powerful and cost-effective tool used by man to create and alter images and type. This curriculum builds on traditional design skills utilizing electronic applications to teach vector and raster illustration, scanning, photo manipulation and retouching, web page design, slide show presentations, color correction and multiple document layout. Among other pieces, students add brochures, annual reports, menu designs, logos and labels to their portfolios. Accurate reproduction of computer generated design is an essential skill for professional designers in today's technology driven climate. Designers now carry the technical responsibilities for quality control and the problem-free reproduction of their work. In depth knowledge of computer hardware, monitor calibration, trapping, mass storage devices and operating systems is essential. Industry standards for color scanning, correction and management are taught as well as film proofing and press checking for printing. This curriculum provides knowledge invaluable to today's designer. Interactive MultimediaBack to topNowhere in the design industry are technology and art more closely linked than in interactive multimedia. In interactive multimedia, typography, illustration, photography, video, animation, music and sound effects combine to create a revolutionary form of communication. Whether these elements are originally created or electronically acquired, Platt students learn the skills necessary to blend and harmonize them into a powerful information package. All of the design fundamentals learned previously enhance the student's ability to structure information, design visually interesting interfaces and fulfill their creative vision using a variety of hardware and software techniques. Among other skills, students learn 3D modeling, music video production, project planning and presentation, interactive website production, authoring, lingo scripting, and digital video and audio editing. Students finish the course with an interactive CD-ROM individually planned and created during their course of study. In this rapidly evolving field, Platt College offers students the most current and accurate skills available. Interactive Website DesignBack to topIn recent years nothing has had a greater impact on business and society than the Internet. When properly designed, an effective Web site becomes a piece of art not unlike any other. Due to the emphasis on a strong computer graphic arts foundation, Platt students are able to design and develop exceptional Web sites which incorporate this critical artistic component.
