The visual communications program focuses on graphic design and
can prepare students for amazing careers in the field of
commercial art and design. Along with a solid foundation in
practical applications, students can learn to master the
principles of visual communication by using different types of
multimedia, illustration, animation and web design.
Created with the artistic and imaginative student in mind, the
program can give you the foundation you need to solve complex
design problems. We have combined the practical applications of
design with creative ideas to produce this exciting program.
Students gain comprehensive working knowledge of visual
expression as a means of developing and communicating ideas.
The program is divided into 3 areas:
Animation
Students can learn animation techniques using both the
traditional and computer-aided applications during the
animation portion of the program. They can also master how to
incorporate special effects with flash and 3D Studio Max.
Graphic Design
The graphic design area of course work can teach students
everything from traditional print applications to web design.
Students can learn how to create and design for corporate
entities such as creating logos and stationery, to designing
for advertising campaigns, signage and billboards.
Web Design
The web design portion of the program focuses on creative and
meaningful web designs and multimedia applications. Students
can learn animation techniques using both the traditional and
computer-aided applications during the animation portion of the
program. They can also master how to incorporate special
effects with Flash, 3D Studio Max and Maya.

The goal of the Fashion Design program is to develop creative and
innovative designers equipped with the techniques of fine
craftsmanship, attuned to the needs of the consumer, and armed
with a strong business awareness and background. Draping, pattern
drafting, and construction are used to develop new concepts and
to refine and develop the student's individual skills and
talents. The student is expected to perfect the skill of working
with equipment through the use of industrial machines, cutting
tables, and dress forms. The University's fashion show production
classes produce dazzling productions that provide an opportunity
for AIU to showcase student designs.

The fashion marketing degree program at AIU - LA is designed to
educate students and prepare them for an exciting career in
fashion. Students can study trends, analyze the market base,
evaluate production needs and learn how each of these factors
affects the retail and wholesale sides of the fashion industry.
We want to produce successful fashion marketing professionals who
will be able to understand and recognize buyer behaviors that
impact marketing operations.

At AIU Los Angeles, we've taken the key courses from our fashion
design curriculum and combined them with the key courses from our
fashion marketing curriculum and created the fashion marketing
and design program. Students can learn the fundamentals of design
and learn techniques on how to effectively market their
creations.

successfully integrate the much needed business knowledge they

Video games. Computer simulations. Virtual reality. The results
of their work can be found nearly everywhere. Today, more and
more industries are coming to rely on game designers and
developers to help them entertain and inform customers. In turn,
these game designers and developers must rely on their own
skills, creativity and knowledge of the latest technologies and
programming languages to succeed in this competitive field.
The AIU Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Design and Development can
help prepare students for this fast-moving and highly creative
industry. The program combines theory, hands-on experience and
group projects to help students develop the necessary skills in:
- 2D and 3D art and animation
- Programming in industry-standard languages
- Game design and production
The BFA in Game Design and Development also features a
career-relevant concentration in Game Art that allows students to
focus on this aspect of the field in greater depth.

AIU's bachelor's degree in interior design (offered at our
Plantation campus) can prepare its students to practice as
professional interior designers who are qualified by education,
experience, and examination to enhance the function and quality
of interior spaces. Hands-on training in relatively small
classrooms aids students in developing interior design skills and
knowledge in the fundamentals such as drafting, resources and
materials, color, lighting, building systems and codes,
detailing, residential design and commercial design.
In addition, through a variety of electives and internship
opportunities, students have the ability to track particular
interest to suit their career goals. The curriculum is designed
to balance the practical and theoretical aspects of career
preparation in order to provide the interior design community
with graduates that have the skills and knowledge to enter the
professional field immediately.

The media production curriculum at AIU Buckhead was created to be
a hands-on program designed to prepare students for successful
careers in the video and audio production fields. Students can
utilize industry current technology, such as shooting video with
digital cameras and editing with AVID or Final Cut Pro software.
When students elect the audio concentration, they work on digital
audio workstations and can use Logic and ProTools software.
Students in this program are expected to participate in the
Annual AIU Student VidFest Awards Show. This competition is
judged by industry experts and provides exposure for the
students. In order to give students the extra edge they need, the
instructors involved in this program are all active, working
professionals in Atlanta.
